OUR STORY
Changing the story. Expanding the canon. Shaping the future.
LunART is a cultural platform advancing women in music through bold programming, artistic excellence, education, professional development, and community building.
WHY LUNART EXSITS
Music has never been without women's voices. But too many of those voices have been overlooked, underprogrammed, and left outside the traditional musical canon.
A study of the top 21 US ensembles by Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy revealed that works by women will account for 9.4% of what audiences will hear in the ‘25-26 season (which has gone down for the past 2 years).
LunART changes that story. At LunART, 100% of programming is dedicated to women artists. We strive to close the gender gap by providing a platform for women artists to be recognized and celebrated.
We are reshaping the musical landscape by bringing women’s voices, artistry, and leadership to the forefront, expanding what is heard, who is heard, and what is possible in music.

"The work you do is truly transformative."
WHAT DRIVES US
We believe the future of music is richer when more voices are heard, more stories are remembered, and more artists have the opportunity to shape what comes next.

MISSION
LunART champions women in music through bold programming, artistic excellence, education, professional development, and meaningful community building.

A culture where women’s voices are not the exception, but an essential and celebrated part of the musical landscape; where women are heard, remembered, programmed, commissioned, supported, and empowered to lead.

WHERE IT BEGAN
Founded in 2018 by internationally renowned musician and entrepreneur
Dr. Iva Ugrcic, LunART has grown from a three-day festival into a vibrant, year-round nonprofit that champions women in music.
"I created LunART because I knew there had to be another way. I wanted to create a space where women’s artistry, ideas, and leadership could be fully seen, heard, and valued, and where we could not only celebrate the music that has been overlooked, but redefine the canon and help shape what comes next.”
Today, LunART brings together exceptional artists and audiences through bold interdisciplinary programming, education, professional development, and community-building across music, visual art, dance, poetry, theater, jazz, and more. What began as a festival has grown into a platform for artistic discovery, connection, and meaningful cultural change.
