LunART Choir
About the Choir
LunART Choir is a treble ensemble, consisting of cis, trans, and non-binary sopranos and altos, with the mission of uplifting lesser-known works, amplifying underrepresented voices in choral music, and fostering an inclusive, empowering community through artistic excellence and collaboration.
Rooted in the empowering motto of the LunART Festival, celebrating women in the arts: from past to present, revered to forgotten, rap to rhapsody, this ensemble brings together passion, purpose, and playfulness in equal measure. But more than that, the LunART Choir is a home, a space where singers are welcomed exactly as they are, where rehearsals are filled with laughter, curiosity, and collaboration. We believe that music lives best when it is built on trust, joy, and shared purpose, and we bring that spirit into everything we do.

Jen Terhune Streit
Artistic Director
As a choral leader, I’m passionate about building choirs that not only sound extraordinary but also feel like home, where music is lived through connection, laughter, and shared purpose. I’m guided by curiosity and a deep belief in the arts as a force for healing and transformation. With that spirit, I envision the LunART Choir as a space for engaging musical experiences and nurturing hearts.
Inspiration behind LunART Choir
The inspiration to launch the LunART Choir traces back to LunART’s very first season, back in 2018, when conductor and LunART’s supporter Kathleen Otterson, moved by LunART’s mission, founded an all-women’s choir named ARTemis. Though originally formed as a separate ensemble, ARTemis embodied LunART’s spirit of amplifying women’s voices through choral music. ARTemis became a cherished part of the annual LunART Festival.
The enthusiasm from both choir members and the audience was overwhelming. ARTemis singers quickly became some of LunART’s most passionate advocates. When Kathy Otterson stepped down this past season, we saw a clear opportunity to honor her vision and carry it forward more intentionally. Fueled by growing community interest and our ongoing commitment to equity in the arts, LunART decided to formally establish its own treble choir. Season 25.26 will mark the choir's very first appearance under this newly formed ensemble!
