About Call for Scores

To connect with women globally, LunART holds an annual Call for Scores, open to women composers of all ages and nationalities. Up to three works are selected to be performed at our Annual Festival which will take place the first week of June in Madison, WI.

Winning composers receive:

  • A cash prize of $300 for up to three winning composers

  • Performance of composition at the Gala Concert

  • Professional live audio & video recording of composition

  • An invitation to attend the Festival

If able to attend the festival, composers receive:

  • Free housing

  • Free entry into all festival events

  • Collaborative rehearsal time with festival performers

Since the first Call for Scores in 2018, we have received hundreds of compositions from composers around the world. While LunART celebrates both women artists both past and present, we place a special value and priority on programming works by contemporary and living composers. We welcome all composers, no matter your age and level of experience to submit new works!

I was so grateful and honored to be a part of the 2023 LunART Festival. Surrounded by other women composers and listening to their stories and music, we knew we became lifelong friends and supporters of each other. It was a one-of-a-kind experience for me. The LunART team’s talent, musicianship, hard work, passion, support, and hospitality were all top-notch. I absolutely loved the vibe, and I hope I can be there again!

My experience at LunART Festival was immensely inspiring and uplifting! The LunART team is highly professional, and at the same time, so loving and welcoming! It was encouraging to be among women musicians, and being a Call for Scores 2020 Winner was such a motivating and wonderful experience! I attended an astonishing live performance of my work at the final concert performed by incredible musicians! I feel privileged and grateful for LunART!

2019 Call for Scores winner

Being selected as the winner of LunART call for scores in 2019 was an important experience in my musical journey. It was a pleasure to be invited to perform my own piece in Madison, Wisconsin. All the people in the festival were very supportive of the composers and I remember flying back to Boston feeling very inspired and even more motivated to keep writing more music. I am grateful that LunART has provided me a platform for my music to be heard as a female composer.

What an honor to have been part of the inaugural LunART festival! The diversity in programming was inspiring and the performances were at the highest level of professionalism. This is a festival to keep an eye on and I look forward to returning many more times.
