LunART Choir is seeking a visionary and passionate Artistic Director to lead and inspire our new ensemble. This choir welcomes women-identifying individuals (both cis and trans), as well as non-binary sopranos and altos. We’re looking for a dynamic leader who brings creativity, musical excellence, and a collaborative spirit to help shape the artistic future of our choir.
Key Responsibilities:

Curate thoughtful and engaging programming aligned with the mission of LunART

Lead rehearsals and conduct performances

Foster a positive, inclusive, and empowering environment for choir members

Execute administrative tasks related to the success and smooth operation of the choir (e.g., scheduling, communication, planning)

Attend regular meetings with the team members to align goals and strategies
-
Contribute to the artistic planning and visioning for the choir and broader LunART organization
-
Support the development of the choir’s audience and community presence
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field required; advanced degrees a plus

Minimum of two years of experience leading choirs

Based in the Greater Madison Area

Strong conducting and communication skills

Commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement

Fostering the growth of an ensemble
Preferred Qualifications:

Administrative skills, including rehearsal scheduling and budget awareness

Experience with nonprofit organizations, especially in artistic or leadership roles
-
Ability to collaborate with a diverse team of musicians, staff, and volunteers

Passion for promoting women in the arts and aligning with LunART’s mission
This role offers a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a vibrant and growing artistic community. As the LunART Choir continues to expand its reach and foundation, the Artistic Director will play a vital role in shaping its artistic direction and seasonal programming. While the position offers a modest salary for the first two years, it has the potential for growth and increased support as the ensemble evolves. The Artistic Director will work closely with and report to LunART’s Founder & Artistic Director, Dr. Iva Ugrcic.
