LunART's Youth Art Celebration at Madison's University Hospital

Madison, WI - LunART’s first long term, in-person youth art exhibit, will take place at University Hospital (600 Highland Avenue, Madison) from August-October 2021. Featuring selected works of art from their Youth Art Celebration last March, the in-person display will provide a heart-warming, peaceful environment for hospital staff, patients, and their families. Exhibits can be found in the Atrium near the ENT Clinic and in the D Elevator Lobby near the Surgical Wing waiting area, both located on the 2nd floor of the hospital.

The Youth Art Celebration began as a virtual event and online gallery to commemorate Women’s History Month in March 2021. Inspired by Maya Angelou’s famous poem “Human Family”, women-identifying artists in grades 2-12 were invited to explore the meaning of family through their artwork. But, in true LunART fashion, there was  a greater vision in mind. Our growing mission to create an ongoing platform for women artists prompted them to expand their support for budding young artists as well. 2021 was a year of exponential growth for LunART’s youth programming, investing in the potential for children’s creativity to provide hope and healing for the community. Through the University Hospital exhibit, young artists gain both the experience of preparing for an art show, and the affirmation of impacting the public through their creative work.
