What are our Composer Hub alumni up to now?

We‘re so excited to share the recent work of 2022 Composers Hub participant Autumn Maria Reed.

Several of the links to Autumn’s pieces can also be found at the links in our bio!

While at the 2022 Festival, we were lucky to hear Autumn’s piece for string quartet, titled Yankadi.

Autumn is still composing and performing and shares with us a recent photo of her with, in order from left to right, Mei-Ann Chen, Gabriela Lena Frank, Jennifer Higdon, and Leanna Primiani at the American Composers Orchestra‘s Earshot Readings with ROCO/League of American Orchestra Conference 2024 in Houston, TX. Her work, ”Mental Health Suite“ was performed on June 7th after winning the Earshot Reading Call for Scores.

Autumn’s work Cries From OUR Soil (for Juneteenth) was performed on June 14th with Maestro Dayvin Hallmon and the Black Diaspora Symphony Orchestra in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with poet Brit Nicole, soprano Michaela Usher and choral arranger Lee Stoval.

Additionally, Autumn‘s composition Robin’s Eye View was performed on July 27th with Maestro Nefeli Chadouli and the Chicago Philharmonic as part of the Ravinia Festival in Chicago Area, Illinois. Autumn was named the 2024 Breaking Barriers Composer Awardee with the Chicago Philharmonic Ravinia Festival as part of the Taki Alsop Fellowship.

A memory Autumn shares from her LunART experience is: “Learning more about business and law as well as getting feedback from mentor composer Stacy Garrop was helpful. She and I have crossed paths a couple of times this summer alone!”

We're so excited to announce that applications for our 2025 Composers Hub are open!

Composers Hub is an annual week-long intensive designed to provide women composers with extraordinary experiences and tools for success in their growing professional careers.

The 2025 Composers Hub will take place during our festival week from May 27-June 1, 2025.

The program includes:
- Masterclasses, private composition lesson and personalized mentorship with LunART Festival Composer-in-Residence Dr. Chen Yi
- “Copyright for Creatives: What Composers Need to Know,” two-part workshop with Attorney Elizabeth Russell, arts law specialist
- Personal finance and career coaching with Dr. Iva Ugrcic, Artistic Wealth Coach
- Festival performance of the submitted composition
- Professional audio and video recording of the live performance
- Collaborative rehearsal with performers
- Admission to all 2025 festival events

We’ll also be selling some small paintings by artist @issis.unstrung who collaborated with LunART for our 2024 Rebirth season! The works are inspired by pieces performed at LunART.

A massive thank you to Alison Gauvreau for serving as LunART’s Operations Manager from 2023-2024!

Alison graduated this year from the UW-Madison School of Business with her Master’s in Arts Business. LunART as a nonprofit was able to secure an array of grants to fund our programs, workshops, concerts, and annual festival all due to Alison’s amazing leadership! In addition to securing the organization’s funding, Alison contributed to LunART’s daily work by managing the Call For Scores Campaign and artist contracts.
